It is not unusual to drive between 400 and 900 kilometres each leg for several days, so experience, strategy, mechanical care, reliability, a cool mind and a remarkable fitness are some of the ingredients that the entrants need if they want to get to the finish.

As we are talking about marathon events (with a schedule of 3 to 15 days), team organization and a proper assistance and logistic plan are more than vital items to consider. A car, bike or truck without the right technical support would not last long in any of these raids.

As opposite to a WRC rally divided in special stages that normally are driven twice or more, a Cross-Country rally keeps the charm of the old-style, endurance rounds with total distances of up to 4,000 kms. or even 10,000 like the Dakar, undoubtedly the hardest raid in the world.
